Scratch cards have a variety of names and will depend on what you are familiar with. Alternative names will include scratch off, scratch ticket, scratcher, scratchie, scratch-it, scratch game, scratch-and-win or instant game). The game itself is usually some kind of a small token, usually made of cardboard with one or more areas contain concealed information: they are covered by a substance (usually latex) that cannot be seen through, but can be scratched off to reveal the surprise underneath.
