Bingo News - Former bingo parlor worker accused of stealing money

The Associated Press - Wednesday, February 06, 2008 - GRAND FORKS, N.D.

A man is accused of stealing $136,000 from the Bingo Palace in Grand Forks, where he worked for more than a decade.
Heath Volk, 33, of Grand Forks, was charged Tuesday with felony theft.

Police said the money was taken over a three-year period. They said Volk surrendered to authorities on Tuesday.
The bingo parlor is operated by the North Dakota Association for the Disabled. NDAD President Ron Gibbens said Volk had been an employee for more than 14 years but was fired late last year, after the theft allegations surfaced.

Bingo Palace officials started an audit after they realized money was missing, Detective Mike Flannery said. The audit was finished last month, he said.
